RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Police say five arrests have been made following four robberies in less than a week. All the robberies occurred either on or near VCU's Monroe Park campus.

Police arrested Dominique A. Hackley, 20, after the robbery of two VCU students Monday on West Franklin.

According to police, Hackley knocked on the door to an apartment at 515 West Franklin Street at 5:50 a.m. When the victims opened the door, Hackley confronted them with a handgun. The victims were taken to a 7-11, where one was forced to withdraw cash from the ATM.

Police say approximately 14 hours later, a VCU Police officer identified Hackley using an image from the building's surveillance video. He is charged with one count each of robbery and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

VCU and Richmond police say, working hand and hand allowed them to make the quick arrests.

"Basically we worked hand in hand," said Detective Patrick Mansfield with Richmond Police. "They actually received the information from the public and provided it to us. VCU police stopped and detained the suspect until myself and other detectives were able to respond."

Police also made four other arrests after several other robberies at VCU and VUU last week.

VCU police John Venuti had a warning to would-be criminals in his jurisdiction.

"If you are coming down to the VCU footprint or Downtown area and you are coming with bad intentions to commit a violent crime, you need to understand there will be a lot of officers looking for you until you are apprehended," said Venuti.

Richmond police have yet to release the names and mug shots of the other suspects.
