U of R and VCU take high rankings on 'Up and Comers' list

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

U.S. News & World Report's "Best Colleges 2014" has some local colleges on the list.

University of Richmond tied for the no. 2 rank on the "Up and Comers" list. The school also took the no. 25 rank in Best National Liberal Arts Colleges.

"It is gratifying that the exceptional and innovative undergraduate education that Richmond provides is recognized across the board," said Nanci Tessier, University of Richmond's vice president for enrollment management.

VCU also ranked on the "Up and Comers" list, tying schools like Boston University and Carnegie Mellon University for the no. 14 spot.

"Being listed among America's rising national universities is an honor that reflects our commitment to brightening VCU's star on the national map," said VCU President Michael Rao.

UVA ranked 23rd and William and Mary ranked 32nd in the national university ranking list. Virginia Tech ranked 69th and VCU ranked 167th.
