AURORA, Ill., Sept. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Gas price averages for Illinois and Indiana are falling slightly as the summer driving season comes to an end. Illinois and Indiana drivers are currently paying, on average, $3.76 and $3.62 respectively for a gallon of regular unleaded.
In August in Illinois, gas prices averaged $3.70, which was down $.14 from July and down $.33 from a year ago. In northern Indiana, gas prices averaged $3.65 in August, which was down $.11 from July and down $.35 from August 2012.
"While gas prices appear to be falling slightly, the situation in the Middle East as well as the end of a very calm hurricane season make September prices very unpredictable," said Beth Mosher, director of public affairs for AAA Chicago.
