Two-alarm fire burns Henrico apartment complex

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

Henrico firefighters were called out to a two-alarm fire at an apartment complex Thursday night.

The fire started at the Hollybrook Apartments near St. Joseph's Villa just after 8:00 p.m. Fire officials say the occupants have limited mobility, so they brought in additional crews to ensure enough help was available to make sure everyone made it out safely.

"The occupant in the fire apartment itself was already out of the structure," said Capt. Jim Mellon. "The occupants adjacent to that, where no fire had actually got into, but they were starting to fill up with smoke, crews went in and removed those people, assisted them outside, got them out safely."

It took crews about 30 minutes to get the fire under control.

Three people were displaced, but no one was hurt.

Management at the apartment complex and The Red Cross are assisting those impacted by Thursday's fire.

There's still no word on a cause.
