FBI: Cell phone found belongs to Alexis Murphy

NELSON, VA (WWBT) - The FBI has positively identified one of the phones recovered in their investigation as belonging to Alexis Murphy.

No other information about the phone has been released because of the ongoing investigation. Several cell phones were recovered while investigators searched for Murphy.

A lead investigator in Nelson County confirmed a red sweater found during Saturday's search for Alexis wasn't hers.

Randy Taylor is accused in the disappearance of 17-year-old Alexis Murphy. Michael Hallahan said his client, Randy Taylor, admitted to seeing the teen the day she disappeared, but that he watched her drive away with another man.

Taylor remains behind bars without bond.

The FBI, State Police and Nelson County Sheriff's Office continue to investigate the case. If you have any information that could help in the search for Murphy, contact authorities at 434-263-7050.
