Police are investigating a double shooting in Richmond.
The shooting happened in the 1900 block of Redd Street, not far from the city jail.
"I just pray for the child. I just pray for the family," said Patricia Coleman as she fought back tears.
Police swarmed Coleman's Mosby Court community following a violent altercation that left a man and a young 6 year old girl shot.
"I think it's very ridiculous, and I think they need to stop this," said Coleman. "It could have been anybody. I thank God about the child didn't get shot in the head or the back. It just went through her leg and came out the other side."
Crime scene tape lined Coleman's complex late into the evening as policed searched for clues.
"As we develop suspects and get some detailed descriptions," said Captain Emmett Williams. "Possibly a vehicle and possibly some video we'll get that out to you as quick as we can."
The victims were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition.
Our cameras were rolling as police chief Ray Tarasovic arrived to get an update on the gunfire. K-9 units were also dispatched.
"We have K-9 dogs that are search and track dogs we have," said Captain Williams. "K-9 dogs that can help us find firearms."
Police say they are increasing patrols in the area through the weekend.
