Two VCU students were robbed only a block away from Siegel Center Wednesday night.
This happened in the 800 block of North Harrison Street, around 8:50 p.m. Police say five people surrounded two students, both 19 years old. One of the five robbers apparently had a gun. Police say three of them have been arrested, and they're all under 18.
Reports say the five robbers took a cell phone, beat up one of the students, and then took off. A short time later, Richmond Police arrested three of the suspects near Jackson Ward. Two of them are males, and one is female.
The student who was roughed up didn't need to go to the hospital.
Going into Thursday morning, the search will turn to finding the other two people involved.
The VCU Police Department says it did not issue a crime alert because there was never any threat or ongoing danger to any VCU student.
