VCU Campus scare

Good morning from Gray. Here's a look at some of the stories you will want to catch before you leave the house on 12 News Today.

Breaking news: A brief scare this morning on the VCU campus. The school sent out a text alert telling students that police were looking for an armed suspect on campus. Students were told to avoid the area near Franklin and Shaffer. The situation has since been resolved.

Right now a man is fighting for his life after a shooting in Richmond's Southside. It happened in Hillside Court along Drewery Lane around 10:40 last night.

The Trader Joe's in Short Pump is robbed and shoppers keep buying groceries as it's happening. Most people didn't know that police were being called, as the robber was still inside the store. Police say the suspect was wearing a teal polo shirt, bright orange baseball cap, and glasses and quietly told store management they were being robbed.

Today jury deliberations will continue in the trail of Major Nidal Hasan. He is accused in the deadliest mass shooting ever on a U.S. military post. He offered no defense and admitted responsibility but the military jury in the Fort Hood shootings will deliberate for a second day today.  In his opening statement nearly two weeks ago, Hasan called himself a soldier who had switched sides.
