RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A Richmond man led State Police on a high-speed chase through Richmond before crashing into a trooper's car.

State Police tried to pull over the driver of a Jaguar for an equipment violation near the intersection of 5th and Jackson streets around 11:35 p.m. Monday. Police say Wayne Patillo, 20, pulled over, then drove off onto Interstate 95 southbound. The chase reached speeds of 80 miles per hour, and continued three miles into Shockoe Bottom, until he hit a trooper's vehicle and crashed into a utility pull near Canal and 14th streets.

No one was injured and Patillo  surrendered without any further struggle. He's now charged with eluding police, assault on a law enforcement officer, destruction of property and possession of marijuana.
