Lawyers for Governor McDonnell and his wife are expected to meet with federal prosecutors Monday involving the recent gifts scandal.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch is reporting that meeting will be in Alexandria. The governor's wife, Maureen McDonnell, is the subject of a federal and state investigation.
This involves whether a portion of the $50,000 check she received from Jonnie Williams, CEO of Star Scientific, was used to buy stock in the company.
Last Friday, a spokesman for Governor McDonnell's legal team released a statement that reads in part, "the governor has never owned any stock in Star Scientific."
It does acknowledge that "Mrs. McDonnell bought Star Scientific stock intended for herself and her children... without the governor's knowledge."
