Suspected thief armed with stolen Social Security Number hits Chesterfield stores

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

Chesterfield Police need your help finding a bold thief. Police say the female suspect walked into several local stores armed with the social security number of a woman from Michigan.

The victim had more than $2,000 in charges made to her accounts.

"The thief was able to access the line of credit through the different stores by simply punching in a social security number and then signing a receipt," said Corporal Kevin Bacon.

Police say the suspect made two separate purchases at the Kohl's at 11331 Midlothian Turnpike. Officials say additional fraudulent purchases were made from the Old Navy in Chesterfield Towne Center and at the Best Buy in Colonial Heights. In total, the victim had more than $2,000 in charges made to her accounts.

"So if the woman is local someone is going to look at those photos and recognize it right away," said Bacon.

Police say suspect is in her 50s or 60s, with long brown and gray hair and the same light-colored eyebrows.

"Kohl's security was on top of it," said Bacon. "They contacted the victim and that's what made the victim aware of what had happened."

Possible say this happened back in June. If you know anything contact crime solvers at 804-748-0660.
