POWHATAN, VA (WWBT) -

A Powhatan woman went missing Wednesday afternoon, and authorities are concerned because she has a medical condition.

The Powhatan County Sheriff's Office says 65-year-old Betty Bailey walked away from her home in the 1400 block of Dorset Road around 2:15 p.m.

In an interview Friday, Bailey's husband believes she is hiding in the Powhatan woods, and will avoid anyone trying to find her.

"She was just taken off medicine for depression, and this same thing happened 10 years ago," said Lawrence Bailey. "We found her in a few hours then, but now it's been more than two days. We think she could be in danger."

Bailey is approximately 5'6", 165 to 180lbs, with short black hair. She was last seen wearing a black blouse and a long maroon flowered skirt. She may also have been wearing sunglasses. She is known to visit the area around the Swift Creek Reservoir in Chesterfield.

A search party open to volunteers will gather Saturday at 7 a.m. at the intersection of Dorset Road and Anderson Highway.

Anyone who may have seen Bailey walking or may know of her whereabouts is asked to contact Powhatan County Sheriff's Office at 804-598-5656.
