A small airplane was forced to make an emergency landing in Spotsylvania County Monday morning.
This happened around 6 a.m. near the Wawa in the 3400 block of Shannon Park Drive. Shannon Airport officials say the plane was a Piper Cherokee. It hasn't been said where the plane was coming from or where it was going.
Officials say only the pilot was in the plane and he was uninjured. They say the plane ran out of fuel and had to make an emergency landing. Officials say the pilot couldn't see the runway, which is why he was forced to land near the Wawa.
The only reported damage was to the plane. Police are investigating and will have details throughout the day.
