Suspect arrested after shooting at Springfield officer

SPRINGFIELD, TN (WSMV) -

A suspect who shot at a Springfield police officer on Thursday night has been arrested.

Joshua Pentecost, 24, of Springfield, was arrested about 4:45 p.m. in an apartment at Sky View Terrace in Springfield without incident.

According to police, the officer was at another incident in the area when gunshots were heard.

When responding to the area, the officer attempted to stop a vehicle coming from that direction. The suspect fled and attempted to elude the officer.

The suspect drove up Park Drive where the driver exited the vehicle and fired four shots at the officer, who was not injured.

Pentecost has three active warrants for his arrest, including one for escape. He will face charges of attempted first-degree murder, reckless endangerment, felony evading arrest and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon for activities Friday night.
