Missing Virginia girl's vehicle found in Charlottesville

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (WWBT) -

Investigators caught a break in the statewide search for a Virginia teen when they found her car Tuesday evening.

Alexis Murphy's Nissan Maxima was found miles from her home at a Charlottesville Carmike Cinemas.

Alexis, who hasn't been seen for more than two days, left her Nelson County home to go shopping in Lynchburg Saturday, then vanished.

The investigation into her disappearance now includes the FBI, and a K-9 unit searched for clues in the parking lot of the Carmike Cinemas.

Investigators also spent Monday searching for Alexis by air and combing her neighborhood looking for answers.

She was last seen wearing leopard print capri pants and a burgundy long-sleeved shirt, driving a Nissan Maxima with license plate numbers WYN-3706.
