JEANNETTE, PA (RNN) – A terminally ill 2-year-old boy who served as best man at his parents' wedding died Monday, according to his mother's Facebook page.
"Today Logan was doing very bad," Christine Swidorsky wrote. "His breathing was very rapid then slowing down. I called hospice to come and she checked him out and she said he's probably gonna pass. Sean and I held him all day.
"He was comfortable with his medication then at 8:18 my son took his last breath in my arms. Logan passed away."
Swidorsky and Sean Stevenson held a quickly put-together wedding Saturday. She said after the ceremony they were "speechless and touched" by the outpouring of emotion and donations from others in response to their story.
They said they had been putting it off waiting for their son to get better. But his doctor said he had only weeks to live, at best, so they proceeded with the marriage.
Logan was born with a rare genetic disorder called Fanconi anemia. He was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, and doctors found a tumor on his kidney.
On Monday, the mother expressed her grief but also appreciation that her son no longer had to suffer.
"I'm so sad upset and I'm in disbelief," she wrote. "He is with angels and he's in no more pain. No more sickness no more hospitals. We love all of u for all your prayers thank u all for caring. God bless u all!
"And most of all God bless Logan. I'll c u in my dreams my son."
