HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - Henrico County is making its push to inform people about the meals tax referendum.
It will be on the ballot November 5.
The county just launched a website explaining how the four-percent tax increase will help schools. Leaders estimate it could generate $18-million a year. HCPS Superintendent Dr. Patrick Russo is talking on the website; foreshadowing some hard times for the schools if this tax doesn't pass
"We will have the possibility of the elimination of middle school sports," he said. "The possibility of a pay for play sports at the high school level. Things that would have never have though to consider in Henrico County will be under consideration."
Dr. Russo also predicted bigger class sizes, cuts to transportation and gifted programs in 2015.
