Albany wins state Dixie Youth Baseball Tournament

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A group of 10 and 11 year-old baseball players from Albany will represent Georgia at Nationals. Albany White defeated a team from Columbus, 6-4, 6-1 to clinch the bid.

"It's a proud moment right now for the kids, the coaches and the parents.to represent the great state of Georgia in the world series in Mississippi," said assistant head coach Terry Roundtree. "The kids have worked extremely hard to this point and we are proud of them."

Cameron Hopkins and Cedric Roundtree started the team off with two RBI in the first inning. Jordan Buchanan fought through multiple bases loaded situations but still didn't allow any runs. Adris Pickett also nailed a homer for the squad.
