Stolen fire truck ends up in ditch in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

Police are looking for the person responsible for stealing and crashing a Chesterfield fire truck.

Officers say at about 5:45 a.m. Saturday someone got into a fenced in lot at the Chesterfield County Government Complex and stole a truck there for repairs.

The suspect smashed through a locked gate then took the truck on a joy ride before spinning out and crashing in an embankment on Woodpecker Road near Bundle Road.

That suspect fled the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
