RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - We are learning about reports of another gift to Virginia's first family. This time, the first lady may have received cosmetic dental work for free.
The Washington Post and its anonymous sources have struck again. This time, the paper says two sources confirm that investigators are looking into whether Maureen McDonnell received free dental work from a well-known Richmond dentist.
The allegations in the Washington Post are that Baxter Perkinson provided the cosmetic dentistry at no charge to the first lady.
Governor Bob McDonnell appointed Dr. Perkinson to the VCU Board of Visitors in July 2010.
Perkinson's office has not responded to the Post, but it could also be they are not allowed to because this involves health care records, which are considered private.
This is the first time we've heard about unreported gifts from someone other than Star Scientific CEO Jonnie Williams.
Under Virginia law, elected officials do not have to notify the state about gifts to family members.
