15-year-old charged in Richmond chase that injured 5

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A 15-year-old is accused of stealing a car, leading police on a high-speed chase through south Richmond and crashing into a GRTC van sending five people to the hospital.

Police say the teen and two other juveniles were in the stolen SUV Wednesday afternoon, when the chase occurred. It ended with a crash on Belt Boulevard near Hull Street Road when the SUV chased by police hit a GRTC van.

The van landed on it's side, injuring the driver and a passenger on-board. The SUV smashed into a home, though no one inside was hurt.

The teen was charged Friday with auto theft, attempt to elude police, driving without a license, and hit-and-run with personal injury, according to Richmond Police.

All five people sent to the hospital are expected to be okay.
