A busy part of Chesterfield County is about to get even more crowded, as high-end apartments are in the works. The Belmont at Chesterfield Towne Center will sit right near the Chesterfield Towne Center mall, and Costco.
The site is extensive, and the apartments are being built to match. This comes after a seven-year push to finally get tractors on the ground.
By the end of next year, 368 luxury apartments will line the barren lot, behind Costco. Neighbors like David Norris can't miss the action.
"Noisy, very noisy," said Norris, holding his young daughter.
However, Norris says the new community is sure to bring more business, and families, into the area.
"Stands a chance to bring kids to the neighborhood," expressed Norris.
The construction is now in full force, after seven years of snags, according to Chesterfield's planning manager, Greg Allen.
One worry was congestion, near the quieter, surrounding neighborhoods.
"There were concerns. For instance, this apartment project will only have two stories," said Allen in response to the community's requests.
The developer says the complex will look much like a complex built recently in Durham, North Carolina.
This site might look pretty bleak, now. However, when it's complete, this complex will have some over-the-top features, like a hammock lounge, bocce ball court, outdoor t.v. cabana, and even a movie theater.
"State-of-the-art fitness center, cyber café, gaming stations… fountains, waterfalls… and wi-fi throughout," described Danny Blevins, the engineering manager for the developer, Kotarides Developers.
Some neighbors said they had traffic concerns about the roads bordering the complex. No streets are set to be widened. However, Blevins says the complex won't have access to the back roads.
The apartments will be up for rent in the summer of 2014.
