A man took off from a Chesterfield Police checkpoint, only to end up rescued by a scuba team from a nearby pond.
This bizarre turn of events happened near Chippenham Parkway and Ironbridge Road Tuesday night.
Police are still searching for a second suspect who sped off from the checkpoint near the Ivy Walk Apartments.
A car with the two men took off, and headed straight for the apartments. Police eventually found the empty car and heard someone shouting "help" from a pond behind the apartments.
The shouts came from a man sinking into the mud at a nearby pond. Chesterfield Police brought out the raft and dive team to rescue him. He's now in jail, while the search continues for a second suspect.
