Charges filed against two Amelia men after racy video goes viral

Posted: Updated:

A viral video of a racy teen party in Amelia has landed two men behind bars.

The Amelia County Sheriff's Office has arrested and charged Joshua Banks of Nottoway County with distributing child pornography.

Shaquille Blanton of Cumberland County faces an indecent exposure charge but the sheriff's office has not been able to locate him.

The charges stem from disturbing cell phone video out of Amelia County taken at a lingerie party in April.

The video shows very explicit dancing and then, what appears to be a sexual assault on an underage girl. A man is seen on top of a female while his pants are down and his buttocks exposed.

The video is so explicit officers have deemed it child pornography. The video was uploaded to several social media websites, including Facebook and YouTube.

NBC12's legal analyst says it's not surprising Banks and Blanton were charged.

"Kids today are quick to take a video of just about anything they see," said Benjamin. "When law enforcement comes across an erotic video depicting a minor in an activity such as this, it's not uncommon to have charges brought."

Amelia authorities say they couldn't pursue the sexual assault investigation because the victim wouldn't cooperate and then moved out of state after the video went viral.

Officers do want Blanton to answer for his charges. If you have any information, call the Amelia Crime Solvers at 561-5200.
