A violent crime spree in South Richmond has City leaders saying enough is enough.
A mob of 7 juveniles attacked a man with a dresser drawer and a bicycle at a bus stop around 9 p.m. Monday on Lone Street in Hillside Court.
Plus, a Chinese-food delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint on East 36th Street. Police say the suspects took the driver's food and cash.
And another man was shot in the back while running from would-be robbers on the 1500 block of Armfield Road.
"I really am screaming loud that we would stop this violence," said councilwoman Michelle Mosby, who represents the area.
Mosby is shocked by the street fights and violence that has kept police busy. She is now speaking directly to the troublemakers, many of whom are juveniles.
"And let me explain something to you," said Mosby. "No one cares that you are young folk doing stupid stuff. They are putting you in jail for life."
Pastor Robert Winfree calls the violence a sign of the times. Winfree spent at least 4 years in and out of prison as a young man. He now uses his story to show there is a better life off the streets. The message is simple.
"If he can change," said Pastor Winfree. "If there is a God that can change him, then maybe that's a magnet for others to come and say I have or had a similar lifestyle."
Church and city leaders agree enough is enough.
"It's leaving me in awe," said Mosby. "It really is."
Police need your help finding the suspects. If you know anything call crime stoppers at 780-1000.
