Goodwill opens updated Community Employment Center

Goodwill opened its newly renovated Community Employment Center today.

The Center, located at 6301 Midlothian Turnpike in Richmond, has been expanded and updated to include the latest technology to help job seekers prepare resumes, polish interview skills, and utilize resources. They can job seekers can even store files in cloud storage on site.

Goodwill is also helping businesses find qualified candidates and get them trained for jobs companies need filled.

Explained Goodwill President and CEO Charles Layman, "We've been able to work with them to find out what their need is, adjust our training, adjust our recruiting and find individuals that have those competencies. But more importantly find those individuals that have the ability to adapt and learn new competencies."

Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones helped open the center, saying, "We cannot rest until people have the kind of training they need in order to get the jobs they need to support their families. We cannot rest until our men and women in Richmond can take care of their own families."

The Center is expected to help 5500 job seekers and businesses a year. This is one of four Goodwill Community Employment Centers in Greater Richmond.
