CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

Chesterfield police have arrested an 18-year-old who shot at an officer over the weekend.

A patrol officer in Matoaca Park approached a car just before 10 p.m. Saturday and found two people inside. Once the officer approached the car, police say someone inside fired several shots at him. The officer took evasive action and returned fire. The suspect then ran into the nearby woods.

Police arrested 18-year-old Devin Christian Grant in the 4500 block of Willowdale Court in Chesterfield a few hours after the incident. He's being charged with attempted capital murder of a law enforcement officer and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Police are still investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Solvers at 748-0660.
