RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A Richmond City School bus leaving Elkhardt Middle School was rear-ended by another vehicle, sending ten students to the hospital.

The injured students, who are around 12 to 14-years-old, were taken to the hospital for observation. Their injuries are described as minor.

School bus 38 was carrying as many as 30 children when it was struck from behind near the intersection of Hull Street and Hey roads around 3:00 p.m. The accident was unrelated to storms that made their way through the area Thursday afternoon.

The students were put on another bus and taken home.

The bus driver was not injured.  So far, there's no information on the driver of the other vehicle or whether any charges will be filed.
