RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A man posing as a police officer pulled over two cars and robbed drivers on Jefferson Davis Highway Tuesday night.
Police say the man was driving a white four-door Ford F-250 or F-350 pick-up truck near Walmsley Boulevard around 9:15 p.m. when he used flashing white lights to pull a car over. While the man wasn't in uniform and didn't display a badge or gun, he did tell the drive he was a police officer.
Around 15 minutes later the man pulled over another car near Terminal Avenue, according to Richmond Police. In both cases, cash and a cell phone were taken from the victims.
The suspect is described as a black male, standing about 5'9" tall and was wearing khaki shorts and a white shirt. The truck has two white 'emergency lights' on the front bumper and one on the windshield.
Richmond Police point out that all law enforcement officers use blue emergency lights. If you think you are being pulled over by unauthorized personnel, police say to call 911 and follow the instructions of the dispatcher or drive to a busy, well-lit public place.
Anyone with information on this crime should call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
