TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

In the past twenty years, ABAC tennis has been one of the premier programs in the NJCAA.

Much of that is credited to legendary head coach Alan Kramer.

Kramer, though, is deciding to call it a career.

ABAC announcing today the legendary head man is stepping down as head tennis coach after 20 years, but will remain as the school's athletic director.

He says it will allow him more time to support all of the school's teams.

"I think it's going to allow me to pay more attention and encourage our softball team, our soccer team, our baseball team, golf team," he says. "I'll be able to spend more time with them, and I'm excited about that."

Former assistant Dale White has been named the new head men's and women's coach.

Kramer's career consists of a 339-207 record, and 19 straight Region XVII Women's Championships from 1993-2011.

Under his tutelage, the Fillies won 15 GCAA championships and the Mustangs won 10.

Kramer was named the Region XVII Coach of the Year 25 times, and led his teams to three national runner-up finishes: 1999 with the women and 2002 and 2003 with the men.

The Stallions also finished third in the nation three times.

Kramer's players have always been some of the nation's best at the junior college ranks.

He coached 58 All-Americans and five national champions.

Despite that legacy, Kramer isn't reflecting on his career just yet. He'd rather focus on the future.

"It's not what you've done, but what you want to do. It's like taking a picture. Do you want to reflect on the picture, or do you want to take more pictures and have special memories?" Kramer says. "There's a time to think about all that stuff, but it's not right now."

White takes over after five seasons as an assistant for the men's and women's teams.

"I am excited to move into the head coach's position after having been here five years as the assistant," White said. "It will be a great opportunity for me to become the coach of one of the top junior college programs in the country and work to bring a national championship back to ABAC."

Kramer seems to have no worries as the program moves forward.

"Dale has excelled as assistant coach and will do a great job as he takes the reins," Kramer said. "I am excited about my new responsibilities at ABAC and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead."
