Several weeks ago many of you received The American Community Survey from the U.S. Census Bureau. This survey asks a great deal of personal habit questions and many people have been reluctant to complete it. NBC12 covered this story for you months ago and you can be assured that this is a legitimate survey from the Federal government and you should complete it. Field representatives from the U.S. Census Bureau are following up on those incomplete surveys.
Why should you care and why should you complete the survey? The data from this survey is held confidentially and is used to provide services in your community regardless of where you live. The results of the survey are also used to decide on where new schools, hospitals and fire stations are needed. The survey is also used by federal, state, local governments to make decisions and to develop programs that will provide health care, education and transportation services.
So, if you haven't completed your survey, get it done. Not only will it improve the quality of life for you and your neighbors, but it's the law.
