It is a problem that is growing, with young families needing to take care of their aging parents and grandparents.
In this week's Neighborhood Health Watch we warn you of the risks of caregiver burnout.
Dr. John Clay is looking out for people who care for chronically ill patients. He says the problem is that they often have little time to take care of themselves.
Caregivers can negatively affect their own well-being as well as the quality of care for their loved one or patient if they do not devote some time to themselves for rejuvenation.
They should not feel guilty asking for help from others who may be able to provide assistance in the care of loved ones.
