Gamecocks' Holbrook back at UNC for super regional

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - South Carolina coach Chad Holbrook returns to his alma mater this weekend to lead the Gamecocks in the NCAA super regionals against No. 1 overall seed North Carolina.

Holbrook was a player who also worked as an assistant with the Tar Heels for more than a decade before leaving in 2008 to become an assistant at South Carolina. He said he reminisced in his return to Chapel Hill, but that will stop once the best-of-3 series opens Friday.

The winner goes to the College World Series. It's the first meeting since the UNC's super regional win in 2007.

The schedule could change if Tropical Storm Andrea brings expected heavy rain throughout Friday, which could delay the start of the series.
