GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

The National Weather Service has confirmed six tornados struck Mid-Michigan on Tuesday night.

All of the confirmed sightings were in Shiawassee and Genesee counties. The NWS said they may be the same tornadoes in some cases, but there were six confirmed reports of tornadoes.

Some areas were:

  • 3 miles E-NE of Perry
  • 4 miles N of Flint
  • Torrey Rd. near Baldwin and Ray roads
  • 4 miles SW of Grand Blanc, where a barn full of sheep collapsed -- only one of the fifty animals was injured.

It is possible that the seven confirmed reports were the same tornado. The NWS also did not state just how powerful the tornadoes were on the Enhanced Fujita scale.

Earlier Wednesday, the National Weather Service confirmed several funnel cloud sightings, including a tornado that may have landed around 10 p.m. near Goodrich High School southeast of Flint. The weather service didn't directly link damage to Tuesday night's tornado sightings in Genesee County but says high winds in the same severe thunderstorm system heavily damaged several homes.

No injuries have been officially attributed to the storms or tornadoes.

In Genesee County, the Atlas Township supervisor says teams are out doing damage assessments, and going door to door to survey the damage. Those teams consist of members of the Atlas Township Fire Department and the Red Cross.
