Police continue to search for a mother after the body of a newborn baby was found in a dumpster in the Fan.
The baby's body is at the medical examiner's office where they will determine the infant's gender and cause of death.
Police found the body behind a building near Lee Circle. A block was sealed off when the call first came in around 8 p.m. Tuesday. When police first got to 1805 Monument Avenue, they say the child was wrapped in plastic and was unresponsive.
The person of interest police are looking for is a woman in her 30s, last seen walking along Monument in a Dallas Cowboys sweatshirt. They want to get the word out there that rather than turning to this, moms in a desperate position can go to the emergency room up to two weeks after delivery and hand over a baby for adoption.
As always police ask anyone who can help call Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.
