This Memorial Day, America will pause to remember its fallen heroes. There are a number of ceremonies taking place around the state today. Leaders, including Governor Bob McDonnell will gather at the Virginia War Memorial to honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. Today's ceremony will give special recognition to Virginians who have been killed during the Global War on terror since last Memorial Day. The ceremony starts at 10 this morning at the Virginia War Memorial on South Belvidere Street.
This morning, Richmond police are investigating the city's latest homicide. Just before Midnight, officers heard gunshots and got a call for shots fired in the 27 hundred block of Q Street. Officers were on scene in less than a minute and found a man in his early 30s dead from a gunshot injury. Police are still working to identify the victim, and notify next of kin.
Also, An 18 month old child in Prince George County is found dead by police. Officers say they rushed to a home on Bailey Ridge Lane just before 6 last night. Crews performed CPR on the child but they weren't able to save the baby.
