A drug king will spend three years in jail after he tried to sell a huge amount of marijuana to a local, undercover cop. 39-year-old Winston Nugent was convicted of transporting more than 15 pounds of pot from New York to Louisa County.
According to the Commonwealth's Attorney, distributing drugs was the high-paid accountant's side job. He says, Nugent was looking to make anywhere from $72,000 to $96,000 from selling the marijuana.
"This fellow was an accountant, he had a college degree, he had everything going for him but he tried to make extra money on the side," said Commonwealth's Attorney Rusty McGuire.
McGuire says, the pot bust is the largest Louisa has seen in years.
According to McGuire, Nugent was dealing drugs up and down the east coast, including in Virginia. Nugent had evaded officers in other states but he couldn't get away with the pot he brought to Louisa in orange, construction buckets.
"It's much different when you get to the person who's feeding the drug addiction up and down the east coast," said McGuire. "So we really caught a big fish."
Nugent recently pleaded guilty to felony transporting and felony distributing drugs. While Nugent spends the next three years of his life in prison, the marijuana will be incinerated and kept off Louisa streets.
