RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - NBC12 has confirmed an executive pastor at an embattled Richmond church has been arrested for making threatening phone calls.
Jason Helmlinger was arrested Friday and charged with using profanity over a public airway, which is a misdemeanor.
According to a Richmond police source, the charge stems from Helmlinger making threatening phone calls. NBC12 confirmed those calls were allegedly made to former ROC member, Allen Caldwell.
We went to Caldwell's home, where he denied our request for an on-camera interview. Off-camera, he confirmed he received threatening calls but because of the pending litigation, didn't want to say much else.
Helmlinger, an executive pastor at the Richmond Outreach Center, is the latest member of the church to be at the center of scandal.
On May 1, protestors outside the ROC made scathing accusations about senior pastor and ROC founder Geronimo Aguilar, also known as Pastor G.
The signs detail accusations of sex with underage girls, adultery and embezzlement.
Richmond Police confirm they investigated a complaint against Pastor G more than a year ago but wouldn't elaborate on what it was and tell us that Pastor G was never charged.
At this time, Richmond Police say they don't have any open investigations involving Pastor G.
Helmlinger was released on summons and is set to appear in court June 3.
