RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

The family of a Virginia army blackhawk pilot killed overseas is asking others to fly their American flags Monday, May 13 in his honor.

26-year-old First Lt. Robert Hess will be buried Monday in Arlington National Cemetery. The Fairfax native died from indirect enemy fire in Afghanistan last month.

Governor McDonnell already ordered Virginia flags to fly at half-staff on May 4 in honor of Hess.
