Moving company brings jobs to Dinwiddie

It's bringing jobs, and helping military families. An international moving company unpacks, and makes a home in Dinwiddie County, and county leaders say we'll have more job news in the near future.

It's raising crates into position, and raising revenue for Dinwiddie County. The global company Nelson Westerberg is now home in Central Virginia - bringing 75 jobs, and now hiring.

But what exactly does the company do? It provides expert packers. So if you're a military family moving to a base in Germany or Japan, this crew will crate your stuff, and get everything overseas in one piece.

General Manager Matt Smith gave us a tour of the 82,000 square foot facility and told us about the multi-million dollar expected revenue.

"Within the next five years, we plan to be an $8 million to $10 million revenue location," said Smith.

Dinwiddie's Economic Development Manager Morgan Ingram said the county is marketing its ties to the military community, and proximity to I-95 and I-85 to attract more industry.

"Logistic-type facilities, warehouses - like the Amazon facility - and also advanced manufacturing with our proximity to the CCAM facility," said Ingram.

CCAM is short for the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing - where Canon and Rolls Royce research in Prince George.

County leaders say things seem to be coming together with an improving economy, and Smith says, he needs movers, and needs them fast.

"Currently, we are looking for qualified, experienced movers. And mover-drivers who have class A or B CDLs with experience."

County leaders told us to stay tuned. Another economic announcement is expected within the next few days.
