A flood warning is in effect for the James River.
Due to heavy rains in recent days, the James River is rising quickly Wednesday morning and is expected to rise above the 12' flood stage by later in the evening.
Moderate flooding is forecast with the crest expected to be just above 15' on Thursday afternoon and evening. Water levels should fall below flood stage by Saturday morning.
Officials ask people to use caution in low-lying areas near the river.
