The roads are improving from the recent rounds of storms and high water closed down a portion of Shady Grove Road, near the Chickahominy River.
The road has since opened in advance of the morning commute. The road was shut down sometime between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m.
This caused a bit of a headache because the Shady Grove Road section at the bridge crossing the Chickahominy River is a route many people take going into Hanover County from Henrico.
The situation in southwest Virginia is much worse. Crews are on the scene, digging out the collapsed pavement on Route 11 in Botetourt County, just north of Buchanan.
At last check, the road is still closed.
An NBC affiliate in Roanoke says that storm debris blocked a culvert, and caused the pavement to collapse. All lanes have been washed out, so if you are heading in that direction Wednesday, you may need to find an alternate route.
