Virginia State Police have identified the driver killed in a wrong-way crash on the Chippenham Parkway near Strathmore Road, Saturday morning.
Sgt. Thomas Molnar with Virginia State Police said 70-year-old Drema Y. McCauley was driving southbound in the northbound lanes, and crashed head-on with another car at about 1:45 a.m.
The adult, female passenger in McCauley's 1991 Buick was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
The man driving the other vehicle, a 2002 Nissan Altima, suffered serious injuries and was also taken by ambulance to the hospital.
Everyone involved the crash was wearing safety belts, Molnar said.
The wreck had all northbound lanes closed until 5:30 a.m.
According to State Police, a second, single-vehicle crash happened when another motorist tried to avoid the initial crash and ran off the road, striking the jersey wall. That person wasn't hurt.
