Search warrant: red stains on clothes of Buckingham murder suspe - NBC12.com - Richmond, VA News

A man accused of stabbing his teenage girlfriend to death in Buckingham appeared in court Friday.

Christopher Moseley was given a court-appointed attorney and ordered to return for a court hearing on June 4. He's accused of killing 18-year-old Alexis Rose, who relatives say Moseley's estranged girlfriend. She was found in parking lot of the Farmers Food Store in Dillwyn.

A search warrant from the car that Moseley allegedly stole says troopers found red stains on his clothes when they arrested him in New Kent.

Troopers say after Alexis was killed, Moseley drove almost 60 miles and abandoned his car in the 2000 block of River Road West in Goochland. They believe he stole a truck from a local car dealership, then drove to New Kent County before troopers caught up with him on Interstate 64.

Moseley's attorney, Khalil Latif, says his client's state of mind will play a part in this case.

"After I've had an opportunity to speak with my client to see where his head is, there may be some accompanying motions," he said.

He says the Moseley and Rose families know each other well.

"Hopefully the two families can find a way to travel through this thing together, that's my hope."

Alexis' mother gave an emotional interview the day of the murder.

"My baby. I love her," she sobbed. "Until the day God takes me out of this world, I love you."

Alexis' sister, Sharon Epps, said Moseley "was always a stalker towards her. She couldn't get away." The clerk of the court in Buckingham County said they do not have an emergency protective order against Moseley on file.

Sheriff's deputies say they are still waiting to confirm if Alexis was pregnant at the time she was murdered.

Moseley's next court date is June 4.
