A man was fatally shot Wednesday while hunting in Sussex County.
The Sussex County Sheriff's Department received a call around 10 a.m. for a man shot near the town of Waverly, off Shingleton Road.
Raymond Weidner, 70, and Kevin Brooks, 46, were hunting wild turkey using shotguns. At some point, the two men separated. Weidner says he accidentally shot Brooks when he saw movement and shot in Brook's direction.
Brooks was taken to the Richmond Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. The shooting is currently under investigation. It is not yet known if alcohol was a factor at this time.
The Sheriff's Department says blaze orange vests are not required during the Spring turkey season, which runs from April 13 to May 18.
Brooks is the second fatality this hunting season. The first happen in Carroll County on January 1.
