Henrico County Police arrested two Richard Childress Racing crew members after a fight broke out at Richmond International Raceway late Friday night.
According to a police spokesperson, an argument started in the infield area, and then at approximately 11:15 p.m., it escalated to a physical altercation near the driver/owner lot.
50-year-old Michael A. Scearce, of Mount Ulla, North Carolina, and 35-year-old Thomas F. Costello, of Kannapolis, North Carolina, were arrested and charged.
Both Scearce and Costello are listed on the RCR web site as members of Brian Scott's Nationwide Series Team.
Following Friday's race, members of Scott and Nelson Piquet, Jr's teams confronted each other. NBC12's Marc Davis reported the teams got into a shoving match that ended with Piquet pushing Scott and kicking him in the groin. Cameras were rolling during that confrontation. The images were broadcast on ESPN NEWS.
The fight allegedly involving Scearce and Costello happened after the confrontation between Scott and Piquet.
Scearce faces two counts of assault, while Costello faces one count. All charges are misdemeanors.
Police said one of the two male victims sustained a shoulder injury during the altercation.
Both Scearce and Costello have since been released from police custody. A court date hasn't been set.
