Raccoon attacks and kills Brandermill woman's cat

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

The Brandermill Community Association is letting residents know that a woman's cat was mauled by a raccoon Tuesday night.

The 8-year-old cat was attacked early in the morning on Poplar Grove Place and had to be euthanized.

Animal control officers are warning people to watch out for the raccoons, but they stress that a daytime attack isn't unusual and isn't necessarily a sign of rabies.
