Powhatan couple accused of cigarette trafficking goes to court

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A Powhatan couple suspected in a major cigarette trafficking operation is expected to plead guilty in federal court.

According to Wednesday's Richmond Times-Dispatch, Jayant and Loveleen Khare operated two Cigarette America stores in Midlothian.

If the couple pleads guilty, the paper reports that they will have to forfeit as much as $10 million.

    Police are investigating a homicide, after they found a teen boy dead in Petersburg. It happened around 4:50 a.m. Saturday, in the 1100 block of West High Street, near the intersection of Bluefield Street. Police say the 16-year-old male victim was already dead when they got to the scene. Police have not said how that boy died.
