A deaf, convicted felon, with a history of mental problems, pleaded guilty to first degree murder charges Tuesday.
Police say 37-year-old Freddie Cephas stabbed 58-year-old Hazel Jackson multiple times in the home they shared in Varina in March of 2012.
Police were tipped off by the suspect's aunt, who says Cephas wasn't taking his meds to control his anger and that he needed treatment.
Police arrested Cephas at the Downtown Crisis Center where he and the victim first met.
