Tornado watches issued for much of Central Virginia Friday morning were canceled earlier than originally announced.
The tornado watch was dropped around 8:30 a.m., though some pockets of heavy rain were expected through 10 a.m.
The watch was originally issued around 6:00 a.m. for parts of Central Virginia including Chesterfield, Henrico, Dinwiddie, and Hanover. It was expected to continue until 9 a.m. Friday, but later canceled prior to that expiration time.
The storm moved toward the metro-area from west of Farmville producing some lightning and reached the metro-area around 7 a.m.
